Namibia as Africa’s most sparsely populated country is the ideal destination if you want to escape the stress of the post lockdown away from the large crowds as you explore the remote regions such as the Namib Desert or Damaraland.

However, keeping up with the ever-changing rules and regulations for entering the various countries is a trying task. In order to help you plan your travel and take out the stress of keeping abreast with all the different entry requirements we lay out the current entry requirements for the countries in which we are offering travel packages and will keep this page updated as subsequent changes will be applied by the official authorities.

International Travel

Namibia is open to all international travel and serviced by Ethiopian Airways Qatar Airline as well as Eurowings/Lufthansa, and Airlink and FlyNamibia for the regional and domestic flights.

Upon Arrival

Proof of vaccination or negative PCR tests are no longer required for entering in Namibia.

Pathcare labs are located in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Otjiwarongo, Tsumeb, and Ongwediva. Cost is approximately NAD 850.00 per test.

Our Rules at Airports

  • Guide/driver/company representative to welcome guests with facemask.

  • Avoid direct contact – no shaking of hands and keep a distance between yourself and the guest as far as possible.

  • Guide to explain to guests where they can find sanitising and refuse bins.

  • Where possible, passengers should be assigned a seat for the duration of their travel and encouraged to remain in their assigned space to minimize the transmission of the virus.

  • Guests handle their own luggage.

  • Luggage required to be handled by the driver/tourist guide/pilot needs to be sanitised prior to handling.

  • Maintain social distancing at all times and where possible

Our Rules for Meet & Greets

  • Airport protocols to be followed, as set out from time to time in accordance with international norms.

  • Driver/tourist guide/pilot/company representative wears facemask.

  • Maintain at least lm (3ft) from guests at all times.

  • No shaking of hands, hugging, or kissing allowed. Use 'Hand on heart' or elbow touch as welcome greeting.

  • Guests handle their own luggage.

  • Luggage required to be handled by the driver/tourist guide/pilot needs to be sanitised prior to handling.

  • Guests will have received all pertinent travel info and documentation thus no paper documents will be provided during the Meet & Greet.

  • Company representative conducting the Meet & Greet to impart with precautionary COVID-19 measures in public areas, at tourist attraction sites and lodges/hotels.

Our Rules on Group Tours

  • Driver/guide to arrange for group check-in at lodges to ensure quick and smooth process at the lobby / reception, avoiding interaction with other guests / groups.

  • Guests handle their own luggage.

  • Guide to keep group together at same tables during meals.

  • Guide to avoid groups being mixed when participating on activities / game viewers.

  • Guide to keep vehicles parked in the sun where possible. Sunlight and heat kills the virus and reduces risk of infection

  • Guide to encourage guest to maintain a good social distance at all times.

  • At each point of disembarking from the vehicle, guests to bring their own litter and drop into the bag that driver and tourist guide are holding.

  • Driver/guide to safely dispose of waste items in enclosed bins at point of arrival.

  • Water bottles need to be sanitised every time guests board the vehicle.

  • Hand sanitiser readily available in the vehicle.

  • Sanitise all general areas of touch throughout the vehicle.

  • Driver/guide to use the aerosol spray for overnight disinfectant during overnight trips

  • Guide to sanitize all frequently touched areas and objects on the vehicle such as door handles and window clips during each stop.

  • Guests to sanitize hands each time when boarding the vehicle.

Our Rules on self-drive travels

  • Guests to wear facemasks at all times when in public. This is compulsory regulation by government.

  • Wear facemask in car when talking to officials at police roadblocks

  • Maintain social distancing at all times, specifically when visiting tourist sites and participating in activities shared by other travellers.

  • Handle your own luggage at hotels and lodges

  • Sanitize your hands when visiting museums, entering and exiting shops at all times

  • Park your car in the sun when possible. This kills the virus should you accidently picked it up

Upon departure

  • Guests should familiarize themselves with the precautionary COVID-19 requirements and regulations in their home country and/or onward destinations, and plan their itinerary/travel accordingly.

Entry to Botswana

Air travel has resumed to and from Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone, Maun International Airport, Kasane International Airport, and G. Matante International Airport in Francistown.

Ground crossings have resumed at the border posts of Kazungula Road, Kazungula Ferry, Ngoma, Ramokgwebana, Martins Drift, Ramatlabama, Tlokweng, Mamuno, Pioneer, Mohembo, Bokspits, Kasane, Maitengwe, McCarthy’s, Point Drift, Plaatjan and Two Rivers. If you are planning to enter neighbouring countries before or after you visit Botswana, you should refer to the travel advice for that country. Also, check with your travel company for the latest information.

Screening on arrival

You must present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed no more than 168 hours prior to your arrival. After arrival, you will have to remain in contact with the local health authority for a period of 14 days for self-monitoring. If you are from the UK, you should not use the NHS testing service to get a test in order to facilitate your travel to another country. You should arrange to take a private test.

You will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon entry. If you show symptoms you will need to undertake mandatory testing and possible isolation or quarantine at your own cost.

If you are not a returning citizen or resident and do not meet these requirements you will be denied entry.

COVID-19 entry and exit requirements may be announced and altered at little notice. You should monitor the government of Botswana’s Facebook page for the latest developments or contact the government of Botswana’s 24 hour COVID-19 helpline on 16649 / 0800 600 111.

Flights in to and out of Botswana from South Africa may be affected by South Africa’s own coronavirus (COVID-19) response. Follow our travel advice for South Africa for information on South African entry and transit requirements, and consult your nearest South African High Commission.

Quarantine requirements

Returning residents, including from the UK, may be subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine period in government facilities at their own expense and compulsory COVID-19 testing.

Entry to South Africa

Strict health protocols are in place for international travellers to South Africa. You will need to produce a paper copy of a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) COVID-19 test to border officials upon arrival in South Africa. The test must have taken place no more than 72 hours before your departure. We advise that you carry several paper copies of your test, as you may need to present it more than once on your journey. If you do not present proof of a test upon arrival, you may be required enter a government quarantine facility at your own cost. You will need to complete and produce an online travel health questionnaire on your personal device before arriving in South Africa. The questionnaire is available from the South Africa Department of Health

Business travellers providing services across the borders between South Africa and the Southern African Development Community are allowed multiple entry subject to producing a certificate of negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) result not older than 72 hours from the time of departure.

For any questions regarding the process to enter South Africa, you should speak to your local South African High Commission.

Transiting South Africa

It is possible to transit South Africa and travel to a third country. If you wish to transit through South Africa, you must bring a paper copy of a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) COVID-19 test result. The test should not be older than 72 hours from the time of departure. We advise that you carry several paper copies of your test, as you may need to present it more than once on your journey. If you cannot produce a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test then you may have to enter a government quarantine facility at your own cost. You will need to complete and produce an online travel health questionnaire on your personal device before arriving in South Africa. The questionnaire is available from the South Africa Department of Health.

The South African government requires you to complete a health declaration form with your details on arrival, including your address, contact information, and recent travel history. This can also be completed online at South Africa Department of Health

Testing on departure

Screening processes have been introduced at all major ports of entry, including airports, for arrivals, departures, and transit passengers. You should comply with any additional screening measures put in place by the authorities. Screening may include temperature measurements and check on recent travel to affected areas. If you feel unwell, you should not attempt to travel. Presenting at the airport with symptoms may result in you being sent to a government health facility for quarantine and further testing.

Tanzania

Testing/screening on arrival

If you are travelling with an airline that requires a negative COVID-19 certificate, or if your country of origin requires a negative COVID-19 certificate upon departure, then Tanzania will also request the certificate on arrival. All other travellers do not require a negative COVID-19 certificate, although it is recommended that all travellers have the certificate as a precautionary measure.

The Government of Tanzania is implementing temperature scanning for all international passengers arriving into Tanzania. If you show symptoms of COVID-19 on arrival, you may be required to take a test.

Quarantine requirements

If you are tested for COVID-19 on arrival, you may be required to self-isolate for 14 days.

You should comply with any additional screening measures put in place by the authorities.

Data collection

The Government of Tanzania is collecting tracking information for all international passengers arriving into Tanzania.

Conservation period
